In Mice and Men i believe that the most important theme in the book is dreams. George and Lennie have a dream of owning their own land and getting there own house. Lennie keeps the dream alive by always reminding George how he wants to tend the rabbits. But, when Lennie dies, so does the dream. The truth about dreams is that if you dream unrealistically, they arent going to come true. You have to dream with in your limits so that in the end, you dont end up dissapointed. I think that Lennie and George set themselves up for dissapointment because in reality, they never could have gotten their land.
Prompt 4- Great Expectations
In this Novel, Dickens used expectations to make the book more dramatic. Pip had so many expectations laid apon him it made his life difficult and he had many choices to make. My expectations are to get good grades and to try to be the best person i can be, to push my limits. My parents always make it clear that if i need meet these expectations. The truth about expectations is that they are hard to live up to. And if for some reason you cant meet them, you feel bad about yourself.
Prompt 3- To Kill a Mockingbird
In To Kill a Mockingbird, the idea that was mentioned the most was racism. In the world today that is still an issue. Of course it has gone down alot since the mid 1900's, but you still hear about it. In the book the jury for the Tom Robbinson trial was all white. He lost because even though Mayella lied, since she was white, she automatically won the case. I have had very few experiences with racism in my lifetime, but the ones that i have had i still remember. Just because someone is a certain race doesnt give you the right to judge them. Our society is starting to realize that, but racism is always going to be around, and we cant always fix that.

In Lord of the Flies, "the beast with in" was a huge part of the book. This can be personal because when ever your stressed or arent happy with something in your life, the beast inside of you can come out and harm other people. This could be verbally or physically, which is never good. The truth behind this is shown through out the book. When Jack came to the island, he wanted to be rescued, but after he had experienced everything, he got really anxious and kind of gave up on getting rescued. All he wanted was to hunt. This made him go insane. The need to get his own food and to be the leader was something he couldnt let go. He wanted it so bad. His desire was what made the beast with in himself come out. Unfortunatly, he couldnt control it and people were hurt. By the end of the book, Jack realized his actions and took a step back to look at what he had caused.

In my opinion, the truth of mythology depends on the story itself. Many legends, myths, or fables are made up by the culture to help them understand their world better. Myths are stories that nobody knows for sure if thats how something came to be or not. I think that myths are great for the culture if they need something to believe in, but in todays culture we don't believe in much. We take things as they are and don't really care how they got there in the first place. We invent and use. Thats all. Ancient cultures may have had a different look at life because they were experiencing everything for the first time, and they believed that what ever occurred to them, will have an affect on how the rest of the world turns out. Even if this isn't the case, its astonishing to think about if the stories and legends are really true, because we will really get the chance to find out.
